Program participants and alumni are encouraged to "bring the world back home" and share their experiences with their schools and communities. Scholarships are merit-based and cover travel, room and board, and program-related expenses. Applications dates and requirements vary, but most are in the fall. - National Security Language Initiative for Youth (NSLI-Y) - Summer and Academic Year programs to study seven critical foreign languages: Arabic, Chinese, Hindi, Korean, Persian, Russian, and Turkish. No prior foreign language skills required.
- Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange and Study (YES) Abroad Program - Semester and Academic Year programs to study in countries with significant Muslim populations: Bosnia & Herzegovina, Ghana, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Morocco, Oman, Thailand, and Turkey.
- Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange Program (CBYX) - Academic Year program for American students to study in Germany.
- American Youth Leadership Program - Three- to four-week-long theme-focused exchange programs for high school students and educators.
